Hazardous air pollutants in transmission pipeline natural gas: an analytic assessment

چکیده

Abstract Natural gas production occurs in specific regions of the US, after which it is processed and transported via an interconnected network high-pressure interstate pipelines. While presence hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) unprocessed, upstream natural has been documented, little published on their midstream supply. We systematically evaluated publicly available, industry-disclosed HAP composition data sourced from Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) infrastructure applications submitted between 2017 2020. these filings represent approximately 45% US onshore transmission system by pipeline mileage. Given that reporting not required FERC, only 49% approved expansion projects disclosed data. Of those data, concentrations were typically reported as higher for separator flash condensate tank vapor compared to liquefied transmission-grade gas, with mean benzene 1106, 7050, 77, 37 ppm respectively. also identified one operator reports real-time its at five interconnection points. Similar FERC applications, this benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes hydrogen sulfide present gas. Notably, mercury was detectable 14% measurements but any applications. releases during uncontrolled leaks loss containment events well routine operations (e.g. blowouts compressor station blowdowns), may serve a critical component quality health-focused evaluations releases.

risk assessment and management of gas transmission lines, in alamout natural gas pipeline

using natural gas as a clean, plentiful and inexpensive source of energy in recent years has progressively increased in iran. pipelines are the most common system to transport natural gas from field to different regions of iran. these pipelines always pose risks to surrounding population and environments. the aim of this study was to assess the potential health, safety, and environment risk of ...

Hazardous Air Pollutants Special Report

While recent reports have commented on the elevated ambient levels of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) in certain areas of Houston, relative to other cities, few studies have assessed the health effects of HAPs for Houstonians and none have evaluated the association between ambient levels of these pollutants and lymphohematopoietic cancer risk in this population. To begin to address this deficit...

Hazardous air pollutants and asthma.

Asthma has a high prevalence in the United States, and persons with asthma may be at added risk from the adverse effects of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). Complex mixtures (fine particulate matter and tobacco smoke) have been associated with respiratory symptoms and hospital admissions for asthma. The toxic ingredients of these mixtures are HAPs, but whether ambient HAP exposures can induce a...

Experimental Study of the Residual Stresses in Girth Weld of Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline

In order to achieve integrated condition in the girth welding of high pressure natural gas transmission pipelines, the weld zones and its surrounding area should have good mechanical properties. Residual stresses are an important defect especially in the girth welding of the pipeline. In this study, two API X70 steel pipes (with spiral seam weld) of 56 inches outside diameter and 0.780 inch wal...
